Valentine’s Day theme for first birthday party?
My daughter was born on valentine’s day and her first birthday is coming up. I’d like to have a valetine’s day party. Any suggestions for snacks, games, decorations, party favors related to Valentine’s Day, the color red, heart shapes, love? Ideas for toddlers, kids, and adults welcome!
Also, what is a good time of day to have a birthday party for a 1-year-old?
I would suggest using a cookie cutter to make heart shaped sandwiches and other healthy foods since most of the kids will be sugared up already. The only games I think a one-year old would like are, eat my cake as fast as I can or play with the wrapping paper from my presents. I’ve give red, white, and pink M&M’s as take home party favors in some pretty satchel.
~If you schedule it for midnight, the rest of your questions become academic and the cleanup will be much easier. A 1 year old won’t know the difference. Just remember to tell her about the party when she’s old enough to comprehend the concept and has the ability to recollect it. She’ll love you for having done it. If you have a good photo program, you can even do up some pictures of the party and include as many guests as you’d like. All with no effort and no cost.
Hey, a party for a one year old? The party is for you. Admit it and just invite adults. The games will take care of themselves with the right guest list.

i say saturday afternoon even though Valentine’s day is on a Wednesday. One thing you can do is make a list of who you’ll invite. Separate list of male and female and put their names on a small paper and fold it. Make everyone going to the party pick out a name and they have to give that person a gift that doesn’t have to be expensive and everyone also have secret valentine/admirer who will give a gift to them. We did something like that in valentines last year, although we had to make something from nature (using leaves, flowers). Another thing you can do for games is have all kids try to say "happy birthday "you daughter’s nameeeeeeee" and the one who does it the longest wins a prize but also give the other participants a smaller prize so they won’t feel sad for not winning. Although you might want to do this game when your daughter could actually speak/understand so she could hear and pick the winner. For snack, buy toothpicks, marshmallows (heart-shaped since its valentines), cheese, hotdog and pineapple. slice cheese hotdog and pineapple into small pieces and put one of each in a toothpick in any order. Both kids and adults love it.

You should make the cake in a heart shape by using cupcakes! You could do either white, yellow or chocolate cupcakes, and frost them with red, buttercream frosting. Or, you could do pink, white and red. Or, you could do pink and red. So many options. I think that cupcakes are the easiest thing for a child to eat, and those cupcake-shaped cakes are becoming really popular. Happy Birthday to your little one : )
